STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) – Some area high school students got a chance to compete against each other in a fun outdoors exercises Friday.
Starkville High School students in Ty Adairs World History class have spent the last few weeks designing, building and learning about catapults.
Students were broken up into teams to test their catapulting skills. The parameters of the build required the catapult to be gravity powered, six feet tall and four feet wide. Today students spent time catapulting tennis balls across the school lawn for parents and teachers.
SHS Sophomore Sammir Rais-Rohani says, “It took us two days to build but we stayed up from nine in the morning until 10 at night strait doing the work and we put a lot of hard work into it. It was really fun, it’s a good experience for us to do. You don’t do this every day.”
This best earned a spot on the SHS Catapult Team and a chance to compete at a higher level in the spring.
