Student Athlete of the Week: Isaiah Eiland and Wyatt Ball, Nanih Waiya School

LOUISVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) — Isaiah Eiland and Wyatt Ball are the two leading hitters on the Nanih Waiya Baseball Team this season.

Both of them were part of a 2013 state runners up championship team during their Freshman seasons. Now they are both in their Senior campaigns and have the Warriors in the 2nd round of the High School Playoffs.

Isaiah Eiland and Wyatt Ball have both had a remarkable career wearing the Maroon and White and Gray colors at Nanih Waiya. They both have also enjoyed being teammates together as well out on the field.

“He’s been a great leader and a great teammate. He works his butt off. He tore his A-C-L in football his tenth grade year, so he just I guess after that it’s made him determine to get better in everything that he did,” said CO-Student Athlete Isaiah Eiland.

“He pushes the young ones around. He never shuts up. He tries to motivate everybody and he’s always right there when you need him,” said CO-Student Athlete Wyatt Ball.

Isaiah has been a Nanih Waiya Warrior since his ninth grade year and he’s enjoyed the ride being there.

“It’s been interesting. It’s been fun. It’s been an adventure. This is the best high school I guess that I’ve ever had and I’ll always remember it,” Eiland said.

Wyatt is also a competitor and he works hard to get better each day.

“I’ve been working hard as I could. I got a couple of brothers that I try to compete with and see if I can beat both of them and striving everyday to do that,” Ball said.

Wyatt and Isaiah have both provided that clutch all season in games and Head Coach Tyler Rogers sees it.

“Both of the guys you know just all year long, whether we’re needing a big hit against Noxapater last week with a home run by Isaiah or the same with Wyatt just getting up to bat when you need a spark to get you going and they can just get up and provide and that clutch to get us rolling,” said Head Coach Tyler Rogers.

Both Isaiah and Wyatt will be competing in the 2nd round playoffs this Friday night and would love to continue playing and possibly get back to Pearl and win a state title and it would be a right way to end their senior years out on a winning note.

“It would mean everything. It would be amazing to feel it. I was able to go in 2013 with the senior group that went, but we didn’t win so it would be great if I was able to actually be to experience in playing in one,” Eiland said.

“In 2013, I was a little bit to young to really be apart of it, but 2016 would be a dream come true. Everything I worked for. Everything I ever want and to be right here with my buds,” Ball said.
