TUPELO, MISS. (WCBI) – Six year old Anaiya Buchanan was princess for a day.
“She knows she’s coming to a princess party,” said Sonja Carruthers, who is Anaiya’s grandmother. She has spent many nights with Anaiya at St Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Anaiya was born with sickle cell SS. Sonja contacted the Make A Wish Foundation with Aniya’s wish.
“Her wish was to be a princess and to go to Walt Disney World,” Carruthers said.
Each year, students at Tupelo Christian Preparatory School hold fundraisers to grant a child’s wish.
“It’s such a blessing from God to lead us to have this opportunity and it means a lot to our school , it’s part of our mission to serve, and it’s a blessing we can grant the wishes of kids in our community,” said TCPS Senior Savannah Sanders.
Anaiya’s adventure began with lunch, she then looked for clues for her big wish. Then it was on to a dance party.
After the Princess Ball, it was time for some games, then finally, the big reveal.
Anaiya was excited about her trip, and she knows which princesses she wants to meet.
“Belle, Aerial, Anna,” Anaiya said.
Her family is thankful for the gifts and trip for a special princess.
“She’s my angel, I love her,” Carruthers said.
Each year, Make A Wish Mid South has a goal of granting 250 wishes to children battling various illnesses.
