Tourism Officials Briefed on Methods of Promoting Cultural History
TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) — Tourism officials from across northeast Mississippi had a chance to hear about new opportunities to promote the cultural history of the area through the Mississippi Hills National Heritage Area.
The meeting at the MHNHA offices in Tupelo featured a presentation covering the recent Federal approval of the Management Plan for the 30-county area.
One portion of the meeting dealt with how public organizations can set up city or county groups to ensure local participation in the alliance.
“We have come today because of the reputation of the Mississippi Hills and we wanted to see what they can do for us and perhaps what we can do for our community,” Perry Grubbs with the Okolona Chamber of Commerce said.
MHNHA is one of 49 areas nationally approved by Congress.
