STARKVILLE, Miss.(WCBI) — MSU Head Coach Dan Mullen heads north to run in the upcoming Boston Marathon.
If you ask MSU Head Football Coach Dan Mullen’s wife Megan about his dream of running the prestigious Boston Marathon, she’ll tell you he has been in training for a year, and he is up for the challenge.
“You know a couple miles here and there and whatever and he has worked up to 20 miles. And he has done that a couple of times. In the last three weeks we’ve had football scrimages and says like he is not even tired when he gets through the scrimage. So he’s definitely ready,” said Megan Mullen/Coach Mullen’s Wife.
Listen up fans, we want you to get this because the numbers are important. The marathon course is 26 miles and then there is the Mullen 36 Foundation. The coach is doing 26 for 36.
“And that was Dan’s playing number, that was Nick Bell our former player that past away. Both of their numbers and so what we do is every year we donate to 36 different childrens charities around the state of Mississippi. That way we can reach as many kids as we possibly can,” said Megan Mullen.
Again, watch the numbers. The goal is to raise $36,000 in the name of their foundation by Monday April 18th. And if Coach Mullen is aggressive at tackling the marathon run as he has been the game of football …..the numbers should add up to success.
“I’m so excited for him. I mean its nothing that I could ever do. You know its not on my bucket list. But I’m so proud for him. And I’m so proud that he is doing it for everybody here in Mississippi and Mississippi State,” said Megan Mullen.
