Video: Super Bulldog Weekend Kicks Off In Starkville

STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) — If you’re looking for something fun to do this weekend, Starkville is the place to be.

From athletics to local arts, there is something for everyone to enjoy during Super Bulldog Weekend.

“It’s a big weekend for the bulldogs,” said Marlon Bingham.

That’s how Bingham describes Super Bulldog Weekend.

He says you can feel the excitement in the air.

“You know, just coming in yesterday, I could already see the increase in the traffic. This morning around campus its been nuts,” said Bingham.

Bingham and his friend Cotton Thornton make up one of many teams participating in the annual barbecue competition on campus.

“You just come have a big time, enjoy everybody, meet a lot of new people, meet a lot of old people that you’ve met in the past. It’s just a good event,” said Thornton.

The Bad Dogs Barbecue Crew returns this year for the competition.

Last year, they took home the title of overall grand champion and this year, they’re hoping for the same success.

” That’s fun to get the trophy,” said Kevin Remy.

Team members say they enjoy the anticipation that builds while waiting to see who claims the top honor.

“They don’t tell you who’s overall grand champion until you’re actually on the field. So that’s the funniest part is the excitement of getting it announced right there. We kind of get fired up about that,” added Remy.
