TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) — It was a time of singing, praying and reflecting on the life and legacy of Dr Martin Luther King Junior. The annual MLK Day celebration brought in an overflow crowd to St. Paul United Methodist Church in Tupelo.
The guest speaker, Pastor Johnathan Bass, of the Mt. Nebo CME Church in Baldwyn, used First Corinthians Chapter 13 as his text, talking about the importance of love.
Pastor Bass said Martin Luther King Junior demonstrated love in all of his actions.
“It made a great difference, a huge impact on the world, society itself, that he stood for love,” Bass said. “Everything he stood for, everything he did, was about love, non violence, but love and if you don’t have it, you don’t have anything.”
The annual MLK Day Tupelo celebration wrapped up four days of events honoring the late civil rights leader.
