Columbus Police Department Responds To Allegations Of Abuse

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – Allegations of a Columbus Police officer’s using excessive force during an arrest, posted to a citizen’s facebook page, prompt a response from CPD.

Today, the Columbus Police Department showed the media the body camera video of John McGarity’s arrest early Tuesday morning outside the Princess Theater.

WCBI’s Summer Rascoll viewed the video and spoke to officials from the police department, who tell a different story than the one McGarity posted to social media.

WCBI also reached out to McGarity, who says it in his best interest to “let it go.”
