Video: Economist Gives Positive Outlook on State Economy

MISSISSIPPI (WCBI) — It’s nothing to write home about, but it is improving. The outlook is even better.

That’s the message economist Darrin Webb gave legislators Thursday about the state’s economy.

Mississippi’s job growth in 2014 was 41st in the country and overall employment has not recovered to anywhere close to where it was in February 2008 before the recession.

But manufacturing produced job gains last year, which Webb said is a good sign and that as the nation’s economy continues to grow, Mississippi’s should grow even faster.
