COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI)- Mississippi Congressman Gregg Harper weighs in on a program that is costing people jobs.
Come October 31st, the American Power Source Apparel Plant, with locations in both Columbus and Fayette, Alabama, is laying off more than 100 people.
The plant makes clothing for the U.S. Military. Most of the work will transfer to inmates in federal prisons.
We asked Congressman Harper if federal prison industries programs needs to be cut.
“There are a lot of programs that are effective, some that are not effective, but it is important that we support our local businesses and their efforts,” says Rep. Harper.
