Mississippi Hills National Heritage Area To Discuss Strategies
CORINTH, Miss. (AP) – Members of the Mississippi Hills National Heritage Area will meet in Corinth on Thursday to discuss strategies to attract a bigger share of the tourism market.
Representatives from 30 north Mississippi counties are expected to attend.
Festivals and tourism are a year-round business in Northeast Mississippi, with concerts, live theater productions, special arena events, museums and more.
Executive director Christy Burns tells the Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal (http://bit.ly/1zbMiOq ) that officials with the National Heritage Area program will talk about new tourism opportunities available now that the federal management plan has been approved.
Burns says National Park System officials will explain how public organizations can set up city or county groups to insure local participation in the program and help define long-term goals for the National Heritage Area.
