TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) — Work will soon resume on a Tupelo building that partially collapsed.
On Friday, a two story building on Front Street partially collapsed. One construction worker suffered a broken leg and a broken rib.
Engineers say a combination of strong winds, and inadequate bracing on the upper floor caused the partial collapse.
Attorney Kenneth Mayfield, who owns the building, says the city has rescinded the stop work order and construction should resume soon.
Mayfield says plans call for the building to house a furniture store. The construction worker has been released from the hospital. We will have more on this story next week.
