MHP Reports No Fatal Accidents During Christmas Period
MISSISSIPPI (WCBI) — It was a good Christmas for the Mississippi Highway Patrol as the department reports no fatalities over the Christmas driving period.
Troopers worked 193 wrecks across the state which resulted in 33 injuries. 1,500 motorists received some type of citation, with 22 of those being DUI arrests.
Looking at the numbers by district, Troop G in Starkville handled 11 collisions, issued 142 tickets and handcuffed four drivers for being drunk.
The numbers in New Albany are pretty similar. That district worked the same amount of accidents, while writing 180 citations and picking up 2 people for DUI.
