ICC Schedules Honors Orientation

FULTON, Miss. (PRESS RELEASE) – Online registration is underway for an Honors Orientation at Itawamba Community College, which will be Apr. 20 for students who score 24 or higher on the ACT.

The free event begins with check-in at 12:30 p.m. in the lobby of the David C. Cole Student Services building on the Fulton Campus.

Honors Orientation will include ice breakers, team building exercises and small group sessions conducted by ICC’s student Orientation Leaders to enable incoming freshmen to become more acclimated with ICC and campus life, according to Larry Boggs, director of Student Recruitment and Orientation.

In addition, ICC faculty advisers and counselors will meet individually with students to discuss their major and future plans upon graduating from ICC.

Students will register for their fall classes, have their photo taken for their student ID and tour the campus.

“Among the advantages of Honors Orientation are scheduling classes before other incoming freshmen; completing the process before graduation from high school; selecting classes from a wide variety of days, times and instructors.” Boggs said.

“I felt more prepared to start college (after attending Honors Orientation),” said ICC freshman Alix Goodwin of Hamilton.

“I met new people and became familiar with the campus and activities. It also provided me an opportunity to get the classes and teachers that I wanted. I left extremely excited for college!”

Fellow freshman Adrian Moffett of Amory agrees. “I loved Honors Orientation. It allowed me the opportunity to pick my classes first, meet new people, and the Indian Delegation and faculty made me feel like I was welcome and at home.”

“Parents are strongly encouraged to attend Honors Orientation and participate in a concurrent session, which will provide them with an opportunity to learn about housing, financial aid, admissions and student success,” Boggs noted.

Adequate time will be provided for questions and further discussion of specific topics.

Participants and their parents should go to www.iccms.edu and click on Orientation and then Honors Orientation to register.

They must have on file both an ICC application for admission and ACT score prior to beginning the registration process.
