Video: For Some Christmas Shoppers, “Last Minute” is the Only Way to Go

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – It’s Christmas Eve and it’s crunch time for the last minute shopping. Some procastinate, others just can’t find the time in their busy schedules for . Shauntay Hinton talks to some last minute shoppers who are in a race against time and Ssanta’s flight plan.

“It’s hectic, don’t do it! don’t wait, get it done ahead. be kind to everyone because everyone is in a rush, so just enjoy the time.”

That’s some pretty sound advice from some holiday enthusiasts who are guilty of one thing…that one thing is last minute Christmas shopping, and if they were tried in court, the excuses for the tardy holiday pick ups would set them free.

“I had to get rid of my kids. cause like normally they would be with me, so I dropped them off at my mom’s house so I could wrap everything and you know I had to get something for myself.”
“I’m shopping for the kids for christmas stocking stuffers, just last minute things that I forgot to pick up…the underwear, that kind of thing. Oops, can I say that on TV?”

According to payments dot com, one in every six holiday shoppers waits until the last minute to do their gift buying and of those shoppers, 58 percent said they use smartphones and tablets to help them shop by locating stores and check store hours. Many retailers are accommodating shoppers by staying open later and helper consumers with tough shopping decisions.

“If you’re just really not sure on what to buy, you can always get a gift card. A gift card is always good for after Christmas so the customer can go and shop for themselves.”

And even Ol’ Saint Nick has some tough love advice for the last minute Christmas shopper.

“If you’re doing your last minute shopping at this time, I feel so sorry for you. You should have don’t it 2 or 3 months ago and let me do the work tonight, ok?”

And if you’re one of those who are guilty of last minute Christmas shopping and you still need gifts, Welll, it’s too late because most stores have closed early for for the holiday.
