MHP Chase Leads to Multiple Charges for Coffeeville Man

Calhoun County Arrest:
On March, 15, 2016 around 4:00 P.M. MHP was conducting a driver’s license check point on MS 8 near the Chickasaw / Calhoun county lines. Troopers observed a red, 2000 Ford Crown Victoria make an abrupt stop in the highway and aggressively turn around in an effort to avoid the driver’s license check point.
Troopers attempted to stop the fleeing vehicle however the driver failed to yield to the officer’s emergency lights and continued toward Vardaman in a reckless manner and at a high rate of speed.
As the vehicle entered Vardaman, heavy traffic forced the vehicle to pull into a private parking lot where the driver was taken into custody. The driver whom initially provided false information regarding his identity was identified as 50 year old, Perry Horton of Coffeeville, Mississippi.
Mr. Horton was charged with Speeding, Reckless Driving, Driving while License Suspended, No Proof of Insurance, No or Expired Tag, Improper Passing, Improper Turn, Improper start/stop, Fail to yield to Blue Lights, Possession of Alcohol in a dry county, littering, Felony Fleeing, Providing False information to a Law Enforcement Office and DUI First.
Mr. Horton also had outstanding warrants on previous traffic violations in Grenada County, Winston County, Tunica County, Coldwater Mississippi, and Yalobusha County.
Mr. Horton was booked into Calhoun County Jail. The case remains under investigation by MHP.
