Video: Columbus Man Marks Special Birthday

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – Every birthday is a cause for celebration, but some more so than others.

John W. Davidson of Columbus celebrated the last of his “double digit” birthdays Wednesday morning at Chick Fil-A.

Friends, family, and WCBI’s own R.H. Brown wished Mr. John a happy 99th birthday, as they enjoyed cake and cupcakes.

Mister John had long careers, working for both the railroad and United Technology. But it’s his family that brings him the most pride.

“I’ve tried from day one to have my children to be independent, and they don’t bother me one bit. And I’m so happy that they don’t have to have anything for me. I’ve had a good family, and everybody in the family is always looking after daddy.”

Mister John is looking forward to more birthdays. He has a personal goal of a 104.  No word on whether R.H. will get an invitation to next year’s party.
