Jurors Hear Testimony in Cox Sentencing Phase
NEW ALBANY, Miss. (WCBI) – A jury is seated and currently hearing testimony to decide the fate of David Neal Cox, Sr. The 41-year-old Pontotoc County man pleaded guilty last month to the May 2010 shooting death of his estranged wife, Kim Kirk Cox. The jury, who must decide if Cox will face the death penalty or spend the rest of his life in prison, heard from 911 operator Bud Grisham and Mississippi Bureau of Investigation Agent Paul Moore. They heard three different 911 calls from that night and saw crime scene photos. The two days of jury selection, which ended late last night, costs Union County about $20,000. That’s all paid for by taxpayers.
