LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (Press Release) – MHP responded to a one car MVA on MS 12 in Lowndes County around 11:24 A.M. Friday morning near Seedtick Road.

A silver 2003 Hyundai Sonata was traveling east on MS 12 and veered off the right side of the highway onto the wet shoulder. The driver attempted to correct her steering but the wet shoulder pulled the vehicle into the embankment at which time the Hyundai overturned several times.

The driver, 21 year old Jessie Raven Smith of Vernon, AL and her one year old infant passenger were transported to BMH for non-life-threatening injuries. Ms. Smith was wearing her seatbelt and her infant passenger was restrained in a child-safety seat.

The accident remains under investigation by MHP.
