Starkville, Miss. (WCBI) — A deadly shooting that was investigated as a homicide last Friday in Starkville is now being investigated as justifiable.
Starkville police initially charged Neal Anthony Anderson with murder for shooting 17 year old Dacorian Coleman. After further investigation, the charges against Anderson were dropped, and Starkville Police Chief Frank Nichols said that Anderson acted in self defense due to an armed robbery. The gun that was used in the incident did belong to Anderson.
17 year old Abdural Funtane Lee and 15 year old Tomas Talib Bradford turned themselves in Tuesday and are charged with armed robbery.
Lee, a Junior, also plays safety and running back for the Starkville High School Yellow Jacket.
“This is just a very unfortunate incident for all parties involved…”, said Nichols, “..this not only affects the people that were directly involved in it but it affects the community as a whole.”
“We’re going to be in prayer about the whole situation.”
Lee is out of jail on a $50,000 bond. Bradford remains in jail on a $50,000 bond.
Nichols says the case is still under investigation.
