One Dead After Pontotoc Crash

The Mississippi Highway Patrol is still investigating an early morning,  two-vehicle crash in Pontotoc County that claimed the life of a an Oxford resident.

Troopers responded to US278, near Thaxton, at approximately 2:45am.

Upon arriving it appeared Robert Fleming, 38, of Clarksdale, was traveling east bound on US 278, operating a 1995 International when he apparently collided into the rear of a 2001 Ford Ranger, driven by Benny H Grose, 70, of Oxford.

Grose received fatal injuries from the crash and died on the scene.

Fleming was uninjured in the crash.
