Distinguished Men of Color Host Gala in Macon
MACON, Miss. (WCBI) – Some distinguished Men of Color were recognized Saturday night in Noxubee County.
Distinguished Men of Color is a non-profit organization that honors local men who serve their community through volunteer work.
The men have also achieved in education and have successful careers. The group awards scholarships to local students as well in Noxubee County.
“Because we are losing our young black men, we want to show them the importance of getting an education. We want them to relate to heroes, that they know that they can put their hands on. That it’s tangible,” says Mabel Jamison, President of the Distinguished Men of Color in Noxubee County.
WCBI Photographer Ronnie Smith was also one of the Distinguished Men of Color honored at the Gala.
