Northport Woman Responsible of Kidnapping, Denied Of Appeal
JACKSON, Miss. — A Northport woman sentenced to 25 years for kidnapping a Kemper girl from school has been denied appeal.
Jessie Mae Brown Pollard was sentenced in February this year after kidnapping a child from East Kemper Elementary School in Scooba on April 30, 2013 because of a family dispute over property. The child was accounted for the next day unharmed.
Pollard felt the judged blundered in not permitting her to present an insanity defense at trial. However, a three-judge panel of the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans decided that Pollard waited too long to file an appeal.
