Video: One Dead In Thursday Night Fire

TUPELO, MS (WCBI) – An elderly man is dead after an overnight fire in Tupelo.

It was around 10:30 when firefighters were called to 2005 President’s Avenue .  Officials say two men were inside the house.  One was the homeowner, the other was a caretaker.

The homeowner heard the smoke alarm, and went outside to call 9 1 1.  But the caretaker, 77 year old Eddie Buck, was not able to get outside in time.  Firefighters found him inside the house , during a search and rescue effort.

No one else was injured and investigators are trying to find what sparked the blaze.
