Monroe Murder Conviction Upheld
JACKSON, MS (WCBI) -A former professor will remain jailed for the October 2007 murder of his wife in Monroe County.
The Mississippi Court of Appeals today rejected Parvin’s appeal that the evidence did not support the fact he killed his wife Joyce. Parvin claimed he accidentally shot her while he was running outside their home near the Tenn Tom Waterway to kill a beaver. Parvin was actualy convicted of the crime once but that verdict was reversed and a second jury convicted him in 2014. During both trials investigators presented discrepancies in his statements to police on how exactly he tripped and fell causing the gun to go off. Parvin had claiemd he tripped over a rug then said it was a dog then said he wasn’t certain what he tripped on that caused him to fall and the gun to fire. He is currently serving a life sentence in the death.
