Video: Columbus Native Named Jackson Public Schools Top Administrator

JACKSON, Miss. (WCBI) – It was a surprise for Dionne Woody, but not to those who know her.

The Columbus native has been named administrator of the year for the Jackson Public Schools.

Woody, a graduate of S. D. Lee High School, received the honor at Key Elementary in Jackson.

School Superintendent Dr. Cedric Gray says Woody and her school community have a mutual love and respect.

In the four years since Woody joined the school, she has improved the state rating from a D to a B.

Woody’s parents Henry and Linda Jones live in Columbus..
