Video: Starkville Man Convicted on Murder Charge

OKTIBBEHA COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) — An Oktibbeha County jury has spoken, and now a Starkville man has been formally convicted.

22-year-old Dennis Thompson was found guilty on one murder charge and three aggravated assault charges in the shooting death of 25-year-old Curtis ‘C.K.’ Randle late Friday evening, after almost seven hours of jury deliberation.

The verdict was delivered about 11:10 p.m., after which several members of the crowd immediately left the building.

Then 18-year-old Thompson was arrested in 2010 in connection with a fatal shooting in Starkville after a graduation party in which Randle was killed, and three others were injured.

Thompson’s defense team argued a self defense case, claiming members of a large mob attacked Thompson before he shot into the crowd.

Thompson wasn’t sentenced Friday evening, but a sentence hearing has been slated for Thursday in which the family could address the court.
