Video: 8 Days of Hope Founder Honored as “Hometown Hero”

TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – The founder of a ministry that helps people rebuild their homes after natural disasters is honored this evening. “Eight Days of Hope ” founder Steve Tybor was presented with the “Hometown Hero” award by Modern Woodmen of America representative Tim Brown.

The award dinner in Tupelo honored Tybor for his volunteer work with the ministry, that has rebuilt 17 hundred homes in six different states that were affected by natural disasters. This summer, “Eight Days of Hope” helped Tupelo residents whose homes were destroyed or damaged by the April tornado.

Tybor says the ministry will be back for a few days finishing up work in Tupelo.

“We have a small group of contractors and remodelers coming back to Tupelo November 7th, 8th and 9th, we are going to be working with the unmet needs committee,there are about 12 to 15 homes that still need some help and we don’t want anyone to fall through the cracks.We are excited and we have volunteers coming from West Virginia, Illinois.”

Eight Days of Hope is starting another ministry.That will be called “Hope Reigns” and it will assemble teams to help people tarp roofs, and cut downed trees within 72 hours of a disaster.
