Video: MUW Students Get a Lesson in Swordplay from a Pro

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) -Sometimes the sword is mightier than the pen. M U W Students traded their pens for foils Monday.

Fencing expert Christopher French was on campus to demonstrate sword-fighting techniques.

The fast paced sport has its roots in Medieval and Renaissance military training.

“A clean, very fast, a very technical sport. You get to see bits and pieces of it from the Olympics.”

The demonstration was part of the Medieval and Renaissance Studies Speaker Series, being coordinated by History professor Dr. Kristi Diclemente
