Video: Chickasaw County in line for Funding for Tornado Shelters

HOUSTON, Miss. (WCBI) – In Chickasaw County, nine community storm shelters have been approved through FEMA for $50,000.00

Two of the Shelters will be brand new and seven will be added to additional shelters.

The shelters will be located at fire departments in the county that is currently without a storm shelter.

Each shelter will be able to hold up to 40 people, and cost seven thousand dollars apiece.

FEMA will reimburse 75 % of the cost once the shelters are installed.

The shelters are expected to be installed before April.
