Video: Steel Dynamics Breaks Ground on Expansion

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — Steel Dynamics rolled out the dirt and pulled out their shovels for the exciting groundbreaking of the plant’s expansion.

Many important people showed up at the big event, including Governor Phil Bryant who has a been a supporter of this since day one.

The expansion will consist of paint and galvalume facilities which will bring in even more steel business.

It will be a one hundred million dollar investment and will create forty full time jobs.

Teamwork is the key reason for all of this.

“To have a company like Steel Dynamics and then the teamwork of leadership here in the Lowndes County, Golden Triangle working with Governor Phil Bryant, working with TVA, ARC, East Mississippi Community College, it just makes it, situations like this possible,”says Glenn McCullough Jr., MDA Executive Director.

Adding the new facilities will allow the plant to produce steel products for many lines of use.

The expansion will completed in 2017.
