Video: New After-School Program Opens in Macon

MACON, Miss. (WCBI) – A safe, loving environment for children. That’s how organizers of a new after school program describe the service they’re providing for families. Happy Start Learning Academy serves children ages 7 thru 12 in Noxubee County.

The program offers tutoring and homework help as well as character development, art, and wellness activities.

The director says one of the most important aspects is the peace of mind for moms and dads.

“Parents know where they are. Parents know they are in a safe environment. They know they’re in an environment that cares for them because we teach them how to get along with one another, how to love and respect one another. And that’s what it’s all about.”

Jones says the goal of the program is to help children with their social, spiritual, and emotional development.
