TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – Students at Tupelo’s Joyner Elementary spent part of their day learning, through the arts.
Artist Kay Thomas came all the way from her home state of Texas to teach an arts integration lesson to the youngsters.
These kindergarten students were learning how to use different shapes to make a 3 D sculpture.
Students made dinosaurs, houses and even a circus as part of their lesson.
“Arts integration has so much research to back it up, 30 years of research, children are engaged, as you can see there are absolutely zero behavior problems now, they are going to remember this, they are going to retain knowledge, it’s more than just paper and pencil at school.”
Thomas will be in Pontotoc Thursday and Friday.
