Local Attorney Arrested

TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – A Tupelo Attorney charged with assault has made bond. Mantachie Municipal judge Kirk Tharp is charged with assaulting a local community college student. Tharp, who is also the city of Sherman’s prosecuting attorney, had the complaint filed against him by 18-year-old Kurtis Yarbrough, on September 10. Yarbrough claims the assault happened at Mooreville One Stop. His trial is set for October 18 in Lee County Justice Court.
