Neshoba County Schools Repairs to Begin Soon
PHILADELPHIA, Miss. (AP) — The Neshoba County School District is spending $92,000 on structural repairs to the 50-year-old Neshoba Central High School.
A local newspaper reports the district is using money from 16th Section land timber sales to pay for the work.
School Board Attorney Robert Thomas says the work by D&H Construction and Cabinetry of Meridian will entail fixing cracks in the concrete to stabilize the building.
An emergency was declared by the school board in September to expedite the repairs.
Without the repairs, engineers say parts of the school could have to be vacated if structural issues worsen.
Officials say the repairs will be a temporary fix while the school board considers long-term plans to deal with the aging building.
