COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) -Heading west. That’s the goal for the Golden Triangle Regional Airport.
GTRA’s executive director Mike Hainsey spoke to the Columbus Rotary Club Tuesday about bringing in another air carrier.
Only Delta flies out of GTR, and only to Atlanta.
Hainsey says the constant changes in the air service industry is part of the process of bringing in the new flights.
“The problem is American is just finishing up a merger with U.S. Airways, so they’re actually reorganizing all the planning staffs so they haven’t been doing expansions. We expect here in the next few months to start working with them.”
Hainsey says the additional air service could begin as early as this fall.
