Bullet Hits Columbus Daycare Center

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — An argument Thursday afternoon leads to gunfire, hitting a daycare center in North Columbus.

A bullet hit a side window of the center at Genesis Church on 23rd Street North.

Columbus police say it happened around 2 p.m., after three men got into a fight nearby.

Gunfire erupted, and they fled, with a bullet hitting the daycare center.

Both workers and children were inside the building at the time, but no one was hurt.

Daycare staffers didn’t notice the building was hit until a few hours later, and a bullet was found inside.

Residents told investigators they heard three gunshots, but didn’t see any shots being fired.

Police are still investigating, and looking for the suspects.
