Video: Monroe County Putting Together Damage Assessments

ABERDEEN, Miss. (WCBI) -Monroe County leaders are asking for help from the federal and state government to make repairs caused by the Christmas  floods.
Leaders estimate clean-up and repair costs to be around 100-thousand dollars.

As of Wednesday,  all roads are back open, though crews continue to work on repairs along the shoulder of some streets.

County Administrator Sonny Clay thinks they should finish it all by the end of this week and hope money from FEMA and MEMA will help with the costs.

“We’re looking at it from every angle, trying to get every dollar we can, without having to use tax payer dollars to repair. Again we don’t necessarily budget for something such as this but we do have some extra money in the budget in case something like this happens.”

25 roads in Monroe County received major damage, 75 had minor damage.
