TREMONT, Miss. (WCBI) — The entire student body was joined by community members for this assembly at Tremont High School.
It was a chance to congratulate two teams for earning top honors last semester. The Archery Team and the Girls’ Bowling Team both won state championships. At this ceremony, team members were presented with their coveted rings.
“This ring is a symbol of their dedication and their hard work,” said Coach Sandy Webb, who coached both teams and encouraged students to put in extra hours and to settle for nothing less than their best, whether they were at practice, or in regional competitions.
“She gave us great motivation throughout practices and every meet we had, it was great,” said Trenton Timms, a member of the Archery Team.
The sign above the gym says “soar to new heights. ” Coach Webb and other members of the championship team say they hope their successes inspire all students, regardless of their age or grade level.
“I want to instill in them that, you have reached your best in your sport. I want you to also do that in your academics and your community as well,” Coach Webb said.
“Just because Tremont is a small school, we can still win, we can still win state, we can still win big stuff like this and I encourage them to get involved in school, to get involved in sports, clubs or whatever, get involved cause stuff like this can happen,” said Kari Lease, who was a member of both teams.
Soon two more championship banners will be on display, inspiring students for years to come. Before last semester, the 1995 softball team was the last to win a state championship of any kind at Tremont High School.
