TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – Tupelo Middle School students learn that spare change goes a long way to help others.
For the past week and a half, students have brought their spare chance to their homerooms.
The money was being collected as part of a project to help a ministry known as “Guardian Angels”
Funds will be used to buy gift baskets for senior citizens who live in an assisted living facility. More than $1,600.00 was collected.
“A lot of people look at 7th and 8th grade kids and think that these are young kids with their head in a cell phone, but they’re not, they’re actually very community minded, very generous, in giving.”
“I’m just grateful that everybody participated in this program and next year I just would love to see it go as far as it can go throughout the state.”
This Saturday, volunteers will pack gift baskets and deliver them to seniors throughout the area.
