Mississippi COVID-19 case count continues to drop

JACKSON, Miss. (WCBI) – Mississippi’s new COVID-19 cases drop, compared to last week’s numbers.

Since Monday, there have been one thousand 536 new cases reported in the state.

Last week, during that same time frame, more than 2,300 people tested positive.

45 additional deaths were reported this week, with some of those occurring earlier this year.

The average number of hospitalizations is 288, which is also lower than last week.

Based on population, Yalobusha, Lowndes, Webster, and Lafayette Counties end the week in the state’s top ten categories of most new cases.

More than 287,000  Mississippians are presumed recovered from the virus.

This means there are just over eight thousand presumed active cases in the state.
