COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) -The Mississippi Department of Corrections is making Christmas brighter for area kids.
Santa Claus and MDOC employees gave toys to two children today in Columbus.
The agency’s Adopt-A-Child program raises money to make sure children in needy families have a gift this Christmas.
Workers raise the money to buy the toys and a bicycle.
“It was actually brought to my attention by my secretary and several of my officers who wanted to do something to show the community the other side of MDOC. We do a lot of good things for the community that go unnoticed. So, we hope we were able to help these kids and make them smile for Christmas.”
The MDOC Region three team gave toys to two children in Columbus and two in Meridian.
That region covers eight counties in the area.
