There will not be the annual Dixie National Rodeo parade in Jackson

JACKSON, Miss. (WCBI) – There’s no need to saddle up for the annual Dixie National Rodeo parade in Jackson.

Agriculture and Commerce Commissioner Andy Gipson says the city of Jackson denied a permit to hold the parade.

The city cited COVID-19 safety.

In place of the parade, there will be a celebration of life for long-time rodeo clown Lecile Harris.

Harris died last year.

The Dixie National Rodeo will go on as planned February 11-17.
