Black Friday Aftermath
COLUMBUS, MISS. (WCBI) Black Friday is now in the past and cyber Monday is the future. The biggest shopping weekend means shopping until you drop, but how are local stores holding up after the rush and before internet sales pick up? Stores start getting ready for Black Friday ahead of time and for Lowe’s they start two weeks before.
“We set out the things that are going to be marked down, we prep up the areas where we’re going to set up for everything and that’s going to be marked down and we inform the employees on the things, you know, the employees on the things that we’re marking down and what needs to be set up, how it needs to be set up.”
Store employees work long hours on the shopping holiday and some have to come in extra early.
“I actually came in like two hours early because it was so busy and I just went on and clocked in and started helping.”
Cato employee, Tamara Burkhalter says she doesn’t think weather plays a big role in what people end up buying on Black Friday and with the weather being so warm, it didn’t hurt winter clothes sales.
“A lot of people have been coming in since we’ve been getting our fall merchandise and they’ve been putting layaways up, coming in and getting them out because of how the weather switches on us.”
Some shoppers prefer Cyber Monday over Black Friday because they don’t have to fight the weather or crowds but Lowe’s employee, Marquet McBride says sales from both days are about equal.
“Internet orders increased this year, so we had a bunch of internet orders and we typically on, Black Friday and when we carrying sales, we’ll keep enough in stock to hold down.”
Regardless if you prefer Black Friday or Cyber Monday, you can’t get wrong with catching a big sale.
