Video: Animal Control Reforms hit a Snag in Monroe County

ABERDEEN, Miss. (WCBI) – A move to revamp and strengthen animal control efforts in Monroe County dies for now. Supervisor Carol Crawford’s plea to act failed, but some supervisors say they may be willing to revisit the issue as they get further along in talks on next year’s budget which takes effect October 1st.

The county’s animal control officers resigned earlier this summer, leaving the county with little help to pick up stray and roaming dogs. Crawford wants to give the sheriff’s department a van, tools to install microchips to keep track of animals and more publicity to encourage adoptions.
