TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) -It’s an opportunity for neighbors to get to know each other and for police to build relationships. The annual “Tupelo Night Out” took place across the city tonight. Firemen and Police officers delivered ice cream to eight neighborhood block parties. In Wilemon Acres, residents enjoyed talked with first responders, and the mayor, but relationships they built with neighbors are the ones that really help in the long run.
“It’s important to get to know your neighbors because those are the people you can depend on, if you’re gone on vacation they can watch your house for you, or if you need a cup of sugar they’re next door for you to borrow a cup of sugar.”
National Night Out takes place in most cities across the country.
