[syndicaster id=’6067883′] Millport, AL. (WCBI) — Kyle Redmond is a top five student in his class and has his football team in the second round of the high school playoffs. Redmond hasn’t been offered a scholarship yet to play football or baseball at the next level, but is receiving interest from numerous schools in the Alabama area. WCBI’s  Jonathan Flippo has more with our student athlete of the week.

Kyle Redmond is a three sport athlete for the South Lamar Stallions. He plays Center Field on the baseball team, Point Guard on the basketball team and Quarterback and Safety on the football team. Prior to his arrival at South Lamar High School, two years ago he transferred in from Fayette High School.

Redmond enjoys his classes with his favorite class being Chemistry. After graduation he plans to major in Physical Therapy.

“Before this season I messed up my shoulder and I went to therapy and I just got to talking with all of them and if I couldn’t play sports in college I just want to stay around the game so that’s what really got me interested in it,” said Student Athlete Kyle Redmond.

“Kyle Redmond is successful in all three sports at South Lamar High School. He’s also successful in the classroom with his academics carrying and overall 4.0 G-P-A. His Head Coach and Teammates see the leadership he brings to the team and in the classroom,” said WCBI Sports Reporter Jonathan Flippo.

“He’s been a real good athlete, good person, and that to me is the most important thing. Comes from a good family and very supportive. Academically good student, honor student. Has a good A-C-T score and hopefully that’s going to reinforce the things he does athletically and plus makes him more desirable to college programs,” said Head Coach Shannon Mcgregory.

“He’s been a really good athlete leader. He’s funny too. When everybody’s down he helps get us pep backup and he’s good in the classroom and studies good and makes good grades,” said Teammate Lane Tate.

“Kyle’s a phenomenal athlete. A great leader on the field off and on and just keeps you going. He’s got like the class clown kinda, but when it comes time to work he’s always ready there,” said Teammate Dustin Weathers.

The South Lamar Stallions will travel to Wadley on Friday night at 7 for the second round of the High School Football Playoffs.
