3-Year-Old Dies 2 Days After Car Accident

LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) — A 3-year-old has died from injuries sustained in a single car crash earlier this week in Lowndes County.

Lowndes County Coroner Greg Merchant says Tanyla Allen was taken from the scene of the Tuesday night crash in a private vehicle to OCH Regional Medical Center in Starkville. She was later transferred to a Jackson hospital. She died just after 12:30 p.m. today.

Allen was a passenger in a car that overturned several times just before 8 p.m. Tuesday on Main Street in Crawford.

Lowndes County investigators say the driver, 40-year-old Pamela Harkin, reportedly blacked out while driving. She was not seriously injured.

The accident remains under investigation.
