TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – Seventeen teenagers are experiencing what it takes to be a police officer. The annual “Junior Police Academy” is underway at the North Mississippi Law Enforcement Training Center in Tupelo. The Junior cadets range in age from 14 to 17 years old and they will spend two weeks at the training center, where they will learn all aspects of law enforcement work. Monday morning, the cadets learned how to properly make their beds and they also did some physical training.
“This is my favorite two weeks out of the year, the rest of the year I’m a school resource officer, but being able to interact with the young people and get to know them on a one to one basis, I really enjoy that one on one time with them, with young people that are, trying to learn new things, willing to learn new things and willing to give it their all.”
Throughout the next two weeks we will have updates from the Junior Police Academy. Graduation for the junior cadets is next Friday.
