Woman Pleads Guilty to Stealing $470,000
COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — A Columbus woman pleads guilty
to stealing more than $470,000 from her employer.
Bernice Lile, 62, faces up to 10 years in prison when she is sentenced Nov. 1. Lile resigned from the Lowndes County E-911 board in September 2011 after she was arrested by Columbus Police on charges she embezzled from Jack Gordman Insurance between January 2010 and August of last year.
She was indicted in May and pleaded guilty today in Lowndes County Circuit Court.
In a victim’s impact statement, Gordman says he thinks Lile should serve some jail time and be required to repay the money.
